The common ways of producing electricity are by means of moving large turbines. The turbines are made to move by various fuel sources or energy. These fuels convert water located in large furnaces to vapor which in turn move the turbines.
Electricity can be produced with Nuclear Fission. The heat generated by a chain reaction from nuclear fission will boil the water which creates the steam to turn the turbines.
Hydro power can be used when a turbine is turned by way of the flowing water. These work great when you have a large river to use. This method does not harm the air with pollutants but can cause an ecological unbalance in the river.
Bio fuels are being used to produce electricity by burning them instead of the normal fossil fuels. Biological wastes can be recycled for use as fuel and is considered safer than fossil fuels.
Wind generators can produce electricity for the home or a city. You have seen wind farms with the many large windmills. The wind is being converted into mechanical energy which is next converted into electricity.
There is a need to find and use alternate sources of energy to help offset our limited supplies of fuels. Most of the common ways of producing electricity can be harmful to our environment in various ways. We need to develop other means of producing electricity so we are not wholly dependant on fossil fuels.
Just the act of using of less power can reduce the load on our environment. Using other sources such as the wind and sun can greatly help at the home level with reducing the electric bill and taking some of the strain off the power grid and creating a clean source of electricity...
