Solar School Leads to Green Dollars

For some the journey through the educational process is about broadening one's understanding in a general nature. But to the vast majority the purpose of formal education is to gain the skills and credentials needed to achieve financial security. The study of alternative energy, particularly solar energy, promises to be the next avenue toward guaranteed jobs and financial prosperity. Already the need for trained personnel exceeds supply, and schools, both trades schools and colleges alike, are scrambling to develop programs that will fill this demand. These solar power training schools will provide skills and certifications that to many will mean guaranteed immediate employment.

Solar energy has created more jobs per dollar amount of money invested than in any other area of energy production. In fact, solar energy has produced over five times as many jobs as the petroleum industry for the same amount of money invested. These statistics are all the more impressive when one considers that compared to the oil industry the solar power industry is barely out of its infancy. And solar school training programs are even younger still.

In the last few decades the solar industry has achieved and maintained a growth rate of 25%. Many experts believe this is little compared to the growth rate that solar energy is about to experience in the next few years. According to many analysts in the filed of alternative energy job growth, it would not be surprising if the number of available jobs within the solar energy field were to double or even triple within a few short years. Job availability is a near certainty. What is far less certain is whether there will be trained personnel ready to fill those jobs. Educational institutions, government, and private industry are pinning high hopes on the promise offered by the creation of solar school certificate programs. Already there are far more jobs than there are recent graduates of solar schools. This gap will only widen when alternative energy jobs begin to grow at an exponential rate.

A variety of factors are acting together to accelerate the rate of job growth in alternative energy and the need for solar schools to fill solar jobs. Rising oil prices is one well-known factor. Improved solar technology is yet another. Every time an improvement in solar technology is developed it increases demand for solar power. For instance, solar panels today provide more energy and cost far less than twenty years ago. Also, new developments in solar power panels makes it possible to install them where it was previously impossible or at least impractical. And rising concern for the welfare of the environment is also a major driving force in the desire to transition to renewable energy and expand the number of solar schools.

If one were to pick a course of study based on job prospects, one would be hard pressed to find anything that holds the promise of an education at a solar school. Job availability is growing faster than the number of qualified workers. For those who chose to acquire solar power training certification the green job will translate immediately into green dollars.

Despite opportunities in environmental jobs increasing, the economic slowdown has translated into increasing economic worries for a large portion of America’s workforce. A good thing that is forecasted to come out of this economic disaster is a surge of green jobs that should put more people back to work than originally were laid off. This is one ofthe many reasons Green Degree Courses are one of the most sought after tracks in North America.
