It is also a way to “green”. To lessen our reliance on costly, polluting fossil fuels, a lot of new energy sources are being explored. Wind energy, hybrid cars, electric cars, hydrogen fuel cells, biodiesel and ethanol. You would find the world of alternative energy bizarre and erratic.

Which weird energy sources suit the criteria? You might be astonished by some of the alternative fuel solutions that are given below.

Wood Waste and Sawdust

This idea of generating enough sawdust to produce a useful amount of energy might sound eccentric. All the trash from industrial wood processing is generally redundant. Some of it is reprocessed into particle board or into wood pellets for stoves, but there’s still a lot of unused waste wood out there. When rotten, the wood waste is actually an environmental hazard that creates methane, a harmful greenhouse gas.

The sawdust can be burned at a power plant designed for this purpose. The heat is used to generate electricity which can be used to run cars. The idea is more than feasible, it’s already in practice — a 14-megawatt wood waste power plant is being built in Nigeria.

Dirty Diapers

Dirty diapers sound disgusting. But used diapers are an excellent fuel source. The garbage can be turned into fuel gas and fuel oil by using a process called pyrolysis.

We have a lot of disposable diapers and babies constantly generate more. And it would be relatively easy to use special recycling bins to separate them from other garbage. Pyrolysis is best when it has been fine-tuned to the material being heated. Mixed garbage is full of all kinds of random materials, and you never know what sort of mix you’re going to get each day. We know what kind of the plastics and fabrics are used in their manufacture, and what is the waste material.

Fuel product is the output of taking in dirty diapers for finely tuned pyrolysis. A power company in Quebec, Canada is planning a plant to test the technology.

Cat Corpse

Cat corpses are just not disgusting, not disturbing too. As per the news that came in a German newspaper report in 2005, an inventor had developed a fuel system that could be powered by garbage, including dead cats. The new included a full tank of fuel would require 20 cats.

To read more interesting car articles, visit Start your Emission-free Engines!

We will show you how to save money on gas, converting your car into a gas free vehicle, driving electric cars, converting gas to electric secrets, maintenance and repairs all at your finger tips.

Many people today are converting their cars to run on alternative fuel, instead of buying a new hybrid car. Buying a hybrid may cost up to $30,000 and the hybrid conversion doesn’t cost more than $150, if you do it by yourself.

First of all, what is a hybrid car? Basically, it’s a normal, fuel efficient car that has two motors – an electric motor and a gasoline powered motor. It also has a special system to capture braking energy to store in an on board battery. If you listen to the makers, hybrid cars are the best invention since sliced bread. While there are many reasons to buy a hybrid car, including a new tax incentive for US owners, it helps to have a good understanding of how they work.

Also, we have online guides that explain the concept of a car that uses ordinary water as fuel. Fact or Fiction? NO it’s not science fiction, it is NOT waiting to be rolled off the assembly line and it does NOT cost thousands of dollars.

Pros and Cons Of Owning Hybrid Cars

Pros:

* Hybrid vehicles run cleaner. Toyota claims their cars are UP TO 80% cleaner than conventional gas engines

* If enough people drive hybrids responsibly, our oil consumption will drop, causing OPEC to lower prices, giving you more spending cash

* If most of your driving is stop and go city traffic at slow speeds, you’ll see a big benefit to owning a hybrid

Cons:

* If most of your driving is on open highway at high speeds, you’ll see little benefit to owning a hybrid

* Hybrid cars and Hybrid SUVs can cost a few thousand more than their conventional gas engine counterparts

* You will probably not achieve the claimed EPA fuel economy estimates for hybrid cars or conventional gas cars for that matter

Ladies and Gentlemen, Start you Engines!

Find out more from my website.

William Tsang: Online Marketer, Market Researcher and Entrepreneur in Real Estate Investing. http://ezsearch-online.com/cars.php

No related posts.

Wind-powered cars of the future

Alternative powered cars

Alternative Energy

Electric Cars

Wind Power
<guid

By Anthony Ratkov.

An electric car of the future may be equipped with it’s own windmill, so it can make it’s own electric power. This type of electric car could produce some or all of it’s energy, depending on how much the wind blows. The car would have the same type of equipment that is found on a conventional electric car, it would have a battery pack, with lead-acid or nickel-cadmium batteries for stroage of energy. It would have at least one electric motor for propulsion. A typical car would have four electric motors (one in each wheel), so that regenerative braking would be possible.

The car would also have something that present-day electric cars do not have. It would have a windmill, with folding blades, mounted on a telescopic mast stored in the trunk. When you drive the car, the windmill is stored inside. Since the windmill is stored inside, the car looks like a conventional car. When you park the car, you push a button on the car’s dashboard, and this causes the windmill to extend on it’s telescopic mast. When the windmill has extended to full height (about ten feet above the roof the car) the windmill blades automatically unfold. Now, the car can remain parked with it’s windmill extended for several hours. Whenever the wind blows, the windmill blades spin, and they turn the windmill’s generator. Electricity produced by the generator is stored in the car’s battery pack. It can be parked overnight, with it’s windmill extended, so it can recharge it’s batteries while you sleep.

When you need to drive the car again, you just get in and push a button on the dashboard. This causes the windmill blades to fold up, and the windmill is then retracted, and stored in the car’s trunk. Now the car is ready to drive. This type of car may be ideal for retired people, who don’t drive very much, or for commuters who do not have to travel very far to work. If the wind doesn’t blow for several days, you could plug the car into the nearest wall outlet, and recharge it the same way a conventional electric car is rechaged, but recharging it from the wall outlet will increase your electric bill. If the car is operated on wind power alone, it requires no fuel, it does not pollute the air, and it does not contribute to global warming.

Anthony Ratkov

I live in Detroit,Michigan, and I work in the automobile industry.

No related posts.

Alternatives to Saving Gas

List Of Alternative Fuels

Alternative Energy

Alternative Fuel

Alternative Fuels

Electric Cars

Gas

Gasoline
<guid

Maybe a combination of different technologies can be the short term solution while we look for developing that ultimate emissions free, high energy, safe, alternative fuel resource. That could be twenty to thirty year away.

Get Off The Foreign Stuff

In the meantime we must ween ourselves off of foreign oil and take control of our future. Think about it, the U.S is being “held over a barrel” by the Saudis and the Middle East interests. The fluctuation of gas prices makes everyone uneasy and bring on doubts about the true power and might of this country. How could we let ourselves get to this point. Well, anyway, until the government gets more involved we all need some help on saving gas. I think the government has finally heard the cry from the public: “Help us save gas”! There are a few ways to help you save money on gas, some

Alternatives, Alternatives

Here is a list of the option to help on saving gas. Some options will result in modest gains for a small investment while others will save you big time bucks on a gallon of gasoline but will take years to recoup the premium sticker price for hybrid and electric cars. Finally, possibly the perfect solution that that can double or even triple the miles you get from a gallon of gasoline without having to spend a lot of money, you can do it yourself and do it using the car you already have. Not only that the byproduct of the system is water… You’ll be doing your part to reduce the carbon emissions thereby helping to reduce global warming. Who else can say that?

Hybrids and Electrics

If you’ve got the bucks to spend on a new hybrid car or electric car then this would be the best choice to help save on gas. The electric car is virtually emissions free and the hybrid uses two sources of fuel to help reduce carbon emissions.
Be aware that the electric car has a limited driving range before it needs to be recharged. The hybrids however, usually use gasoline/alternative fuel and hydrogen-to generate energy.

Tune-Up and Tire Check

You can optimize the mpg of your conventional fuel auto by having it tuned up and tires checked. You may not see any mpg gain at all but at least the car is running as “clean” as the engine allows.

Convert Your Car To use Water

There is a old technology called “Brown’s Gas” that has become a practical alternative for car fuel since the gas prices went through the roof. By adding a hydrogen fuel cell to your engine, it splits the hydrogen and oxygen atoms and generates energy that helps boost the mpg of your vehicle.

Here is help for <a

Global warming and environmental laws have made alternate power sources high priority for government and car manufacturers all over the globe.

New research and development has been based greatly on “hybrid” vehicles. They use both electric power and internal combustion. Nonetheless, there are new alternative fuel cars being developed. Right now, the most demanded alternative fuel cars are the electric car, the petrol-electric hybrid, and the solar-powered car.

Most are classified as zero emission vehicles, or ZEHs, because no emissions are formed when driven. Electrical energy for these cars are obtained from a array of battery chemistry’s arranged intro battery packs.

A hybrid car, or the petrol-electric hybrid, uses many sources to provide power. The worlds first commercially mass-produced and marketed hybrid car was the Toyota Prius. It was first introduced to the worldwide market in 2000, and today has surpassed the mark of one million units.

A solar car is an electric vehicle powered by the suns rays obtained from solar panels on the car. Such challenges are often entered by universities to advance their students engineering and technological skills as well as motor vehicle manufacturers such as GM and Honda.

The whole world now is seriously taking the problems of airborne toxins from pollution. We now apprehend the repercussions of our latter-day, and are bothered about global warming and our defensive ozone layer. Corporations and governments must now analyze the effect that long-term use of petroleum has done to our planet. A huge step to start the healing process is to manufacture alternative fuel cars, these include cars and trucks that produce much less or none of the carbon emissions of gasoline.

Alternative fuel cars are becoming ever more popular due to the financial benefits. People are preserving more finances operating and owning them, not wasting their wallets at the pumps. Wouldn’t it be great to keep your dream machine rolling without keeping your eyes devoted to the fuel guide?

With alternative fuel cars, you will receive many more miles to the gallon, and also be putting forth your contribution for future generations to come. Going environmental is becoming a new way of survival for many of us.

This drive is helping out a lot of people when it comes time to purchase a modern vehicle, or when they trade their outdated one in.

Fuel Sipping Cars

We eye it on the news daily now, read about the scientific investigations that are currently advancing. Global warming did not just creep up on the world, the temperature increase and depletion of the ozone layer.

Economical issues play a large role for people not buying large trucks and SUVs. Job loss and unemployment are at an all-time high, some people cannot afford to buy the fuel that these bigger vehicles require. Certain kinds of fuel-saving cars can get over 70 miles to the gallon.

Corporations and bio-fuel companies have to agree.

The scientific knowledge of fuel-saving cars is speedily perfecting. States of the government see the urgent need to finally get a handle on the situation. Becoming green is not something that will go away. Everybody must adapt to a whole new practice of thinking, of living, and of rehabilitating our earth. We are all in some way responsible, no body’s totally innocent. The question is: Can mankind work as hard together in reviving as we have together in destroying? Acquiring a fuel-saving car is one meager way you, as an individual, can help out.

Click here to see more about Alternative Fuel Cars

Please feel free to republish this article on your website, or distribute it to your friends or clients, as long as you leave the resource box intact.

No related posts.

Electric cars in India

Alternative Fuel Cars 2010

Electric Automobiles

Electric Cars

Electric cars in india

Electric concept cars
<guid

Lots of R&D is being done in this direction to come up with a technology so advanced which is both efficient and economical. One of the many solutions that are most likely to influence the future in a big way is the concept of electric cars. A number of automobile companies have developed their variants of electric cars. The concept of electric cars boasts off the idea of eco-friendly beauties across the world.

In India, he pioneer of popular electric cars has been the Reva Electric Car Company, which is a joint venture betweReprint in full with writer’s name, contact information and brief bio.en the Maini Group India and AEV California. The company began functioning in 1994 from Bangalore and soon launched the two-seater electric car we all know as Reva i. With specifications including top sped of 80 kmph, seating capacity of 2 adults and 2 kids, mileage of 80 km (Standard Model), 60km (Higher Models), Reva is available in three variants namely REVAi Standard, REVAi AC and REVAi Classe. This electric car can make it to your garage in Rs. 3.31 lakhs to 5.19 lakhs.

Besides this, other companies like Tata, Mahindra, Hero motors, Mitsubishi, Renault etc have also announced their endeavor to enter this new segment of cars. Tat Indica Vista and Tata Nano are all set to be launched in electric variants very soon. The E-Nano will come in association with Norwegian electric car specialist Miljoebil Grenland and is expected to be launched in 2010. Likewise, Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi is also working on its electric car project with plans using lithium-ion batteries for power. The Mitsubshi e-car would have a motor placed at the back of the car. Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero motors is also planning its electric car by replacing the use of conventional batteries with capacitors for instant charging. The car is expected to be launched by 2013. Watch out for the upcoming era of electric cars in India.

Get more details on electric cars & bikes at <a

People are looking to save money on fuel costs and also reduce carbon emissions. Many consumers are not even aware of the options available to meet these objectives. Here are just a few:

Purchasing a Hybrid Vehicle

Hybrid vehicles are those that use two types of fuels to power your car. One source is gasoline and the other is an alternative fuel source. This alternative fuel can be hydrogen, compressed air, liquid natural gas and even electricity. There is no need to manually switch between the two fuels, it is done automatically. Hybrid vehicles reduce carbon emissions by consuming the alternative fuel before switching over to gasoline.

Purchasing a hybrid vehicle will lower your fuel costs, and reduce carbon emissions. The disadvantage of the hybrid car is the lack of refueling stations for alternative fuels like hydrogen. Additionally, there is a waiting list to purchase the most popular hybrid vehicles.

Electric Cars

Auto manufacturers are stepping up production of their electric vehicles. Electric vehicles use an innovating braking system that instead of releasing energy uses it to recharge the battery.

The advantage of the electric car is that it is virtually 100% emissions-free. A secondary advantage is that you may be able to get a deduction on your taxes in the year you purchase the vehicle. Electric cars can be plugged into the wall outlet in your garage to charge the batteries.

There are also disadvantages to the electric auto. They have a limited driving range before they must be recharged. Electric cars also require a lot of space for the batteries, thereby reducing the space available for storing and transporting objects.

Bio diesel Conversion

If your car has a diesel engine, converting it to use bio diesel is another way to save money and help the environment. This alternative fuel source is a non petroleum based product made by converting vegetable oil to fuel. Bio diesel can be used directly in diesel powered cars.

Some creative consumers have even found a way to use the used cooking oil from fast food restaurants to make bio diesel.

Hydrogen Gas Conversion

An old technology called “Brown Gas” was developed over forty years ago, but until recently, the relatively cheap price of gasoline deferred consumers from using it. Now that gas prices are extremely high, many consumers are converting their cars to use hydrogen gas, a.k.a. HHO.

The technology works by splitting the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in water to generate energy that increases the fuel efficiency of your vehicle. It can be done by the average Joe by adding a fuel cell that converts the water to hydrogen gas.

There are more alternative fuel options being developed in a joint effort of countries and industries throughout the world. In the United States, the U.S. Government is teaming up with domestic auto manufacturers and chemical companies to research and develop commercially viable alternative fuels.

Atul Tanna writes about energy and has equally knowledgeable guest authors also writing on the subject in the regularly updated blog called Cheap Alternative Energy. One of the advantages of using alternative energy is that it is a renewable resource whereas our supply of coal and other fossil fuels is depleting. This advantage of renewable energy and alternative energies has many companies and people looking for different ways to power up.

Sometimes called renewable resources, alternative energy does not need fossil fuel or even the splitting of the atom to be produced. It is called renewable because the sources of it are constantly being produced. It does not cause the pollution that oil and gas cause. This kind of energy is not really new. What is new is that we now categorize these forms of energy as alternative energy.

The forms that alternative energy may take are fuel cells, geothermal energy, wind power, biomass, hydroelectric energy, solar energy and water energy such as wave and tidal energy.

*Fuel cells as a type of alternative energy is usually associated with electric cars, or hybrid cars. Electrochemical devices produce power through a chemical reaction. The primary benefit of fuel cells technology is that power is produced without the production of harmful pollutants. They are still very expensive to produce, however.

*Geothermal energy can be a powerful source of energy. It is ideal for small scale use to heat houses, businesses and small industry. On a larger scale, geothermal plants extract the heat from the earth and use it to create steam to power turbine engines.

*Wind turbines produce energy using the same principal as windmills. Blades are moved by the wind, and a shaft attached to the blades rotate a generator that produces energy. This energy is stored in batteries. Wind is, of course required to run this type of alternative energy, so the more wind you have the better it will work. Sites where there is a lot of wind, such as open farmland are good for wind turbines, or other locations that cannot be reached by powerlines.

*Biomass is organic material that can be converted to fuel. There are many types, such as animal waste, crops and grains, wood and other byproducts from mills and forests as well as from aquatic plants. One type uses the matter to burn to produce steam power; another type transforms the matter into a gas or liquid.

*Solar energy is probably the most well known form of alternate energy. It is the safe and efficient use of the heat from the sun to form energy.

*Energy from water. Hydroelectric energy is the energy produced by dams. The movement of the water causes turbines to generate power instantaneously. The initial cost of a dam is very high, but after that the power is free. Tidal energy works on the same concept as dams. The turbines are put directly in the water and the motion of the tides over them powers the turbines. Wave energy uses the motion of the waves in the same way.

As alternative energy research continues, more alternative energy sources will be found. Perhaps one day we will heat our homes by transforming our refuse into a usable source of energy.

www.tellmeaboutalternateenergy.com [http://www.tellmeaboutalternateenergy.com] brings you thought provoking information about alternate energy. Another major goal is to reduce our dependence on oil, which is rapidly being depleted, partially resulting in unfathomable price hikes. Plus, the less we are dependent on foreign sources of oil, the better, for painfully obvious reasons.

In addition to hybrid cars, which use a combination of a gasoline engine with an electric motor powered by a battery, there are also flex-fuel vehicles, bi-fuel vehicles and converted vehicles which all allow you to use some form of alternative fuel, either alone or in combination with gasoline or diesel. Even plug-in electric hybrids are being developed which can use gasoline mixed with other fuels as a back-up source to electricity.

Types of alternative fuels used in cars include electricity, biodiesel, natural gas (methane), ethanol, methanol (wood alcohol), propane, hydrogen gas, and p-series fuels.

Biodiesel can be combined with petroleum diesel. Biodiesel is made from animal fats or vegetable oil, so we can produce it right here in the United States. It burns cleaner than pure diesel.

Electricity can come from fuel cells or a battery, and can be combined with gasoline for the most common hybrid car. There are all-electric cars, plug-in hybrids (which can acquire electricity from an outlet in your garage), or fuel cell cars.

Ethanol, otherwise known as E85, is usually combined with regular gasoline in various percentages. This is alcohol based and made from biomass or grains, such as wheat or corn. Since we can easily produce that, it frees us from foreign dependence on oil. It also burns cleaner. Flex-fuel vehicles that use 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline are already out there on the roads in several models.

Methanol was being combined with gasoline, but may be used in fuel-cell cars in the future. It comes from coal.

Natural gas, or methane, can power certain cars, which can run on either natural gas or gasoline, depending on what is available. It can be gotten from landfills, natural gas fields, or as a byproduct of oil drilling or coal mining. It must be compressed or liquefied to use in an automobile. It is possible to have bi-fuel vehicles, which run on regular gasoline or natural gas.

P-Series fuels are clear and can be used alone or combined with gasoline.

Hydrogen as fuel for cars is still in development. Hydrogen comes from water, which is still plentiful on this earth. It can be harnessed from petroleum refining in the form of natural gas, or it can come from running electricity through water. It must be converted to liquid or highly compressed to store it in the car, so it looks like it will be used mainly to power fuel cells in electric vehicles. It can also be mixed with natural gas for certain engines.

We usually think of propane as a fuel for camping lanterns and stoves, but it can also be used to power a car. It is a byproduct of natural gas and crude oil refining.

The more that these alternative fuels are used, the more that standard gasoline vehicles will stand out for their foul, smelly exhaust, until it will become positively embarrassing, (not to mention prohibitively expensive), to continue driving around harming the environment with one. Let’s hope that time comes soon.

Laura Eggers Underhill writes for and publishes <a
