src="http://dtc06vozptoma.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/cc/Types_Of_Alternative_Fuel107.jpg" alt='Types Of Alternative Fuel' />

In light of the much debated topic on rising gasoline and energy costs, some experts say new investment, in both alternative energy and conventional sources, will boost supply and could cut prices in half. If a global recession hits, the drop could be even more dramatic. Alternative fuels are designed to focus on energy conservation, clean air, soil and water. These fuels include biodiesel, electricity, ethanol, hydrogen, natural gas, methanol and propane. Globally, you will find many laboratories experimenting with these fuel options, and have been for many years now.

To get a clearer understanding of the origins of these alternative fuels, the Alternative Fuels Data Center of the U.S. Department of Energy defines them as the following:

o	“Natural gas” is domestically produced and readily available to end-users through the utility infrastructure. It is also clean burning and produces significantly fewer harmful emissions than reformulated gasoline or diesel when used in natural gas vehicles.

o	“Biodiesel” is a domestically produced, renewable fuel that can be manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant greases. Biodiesel is safe, biodegradable, and reduces serious air pollutants such as particulates, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and air toxics.

o	“Electricity” can be used as a transportation fuel to power battery electric and fuel cell vehicles. When used to power electric vehicles or EVs, electricity is stored in an energy storage device such as a battery. EV batteries have a limited storage capacity and their electricity must be replenished by plugging the vehicle into an electrical source. The electricity for recharging the batteries can come from the existing power grid or from distributed renewable sources such as solar or wind energy.

o	“Ethanol” is an alcohol-based alternative fuel produced by fermenting and distilling starch crops that have been converted into simple sugars. Feedstocks for this fuel include corn, barley, and wheat. Ethanol can also be produced from “cellulosic biomass” such as trees and grasses and is called bioethanol. Ethanol is most commonly used to increase octane and improve the emissions quality of gasoline.

o	“Hydrogen (H2)” will play an important role in developing sustainable transportation in the United States, because in the future it may be produced in virtually unlimited quantities using renewable resources. Hydrogen has been used effectively in a number of internal combustion engine vehicles as pure hydrogen mixed with natural gas.

o	“Methanol,” also known as wood alcohol, can be used as an alternative fuel in flexible fuel vehicles that run on M85 (a blend of 85% methanol and 15% gasoline). However, it is not commonly used because automakers are no longer supplying methanol-powered vehicles.

o	“Propane or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)” is a popular alternative fuel choice for vehicles because there is already an infrastructure of pipelines, processing facilities, and storage for its efficient distribution.

The transition from using gasoline to alternative fuels has not been an easy process, since there is still much experimentation on mass production. There is an alternative fuel station locator found on the Alternative Fuels Data Center webpage. It displays a map of your city and lists stations found on the fuel you’ve chosen, based on a certain radius around that city. The lists include the following information:

o	miles within the radius of the selected city

o	the name of the station carrying that particular type of fuel

o	phone number

o	address

o	city

o	state

o	zip code

o	type of access (private, government only or public).

The resounding cliché, “Necessity is the mother of invention,” clearly defines our call to find alternatives to the growing demand of energy consumption. Another concern for consumers is the affordability and efficiency of vehicles designed by automakers to operate on these alternative fuels or some type of converter to install in their existing vehicles to accommodate selected fuels. Although these alternative fuels may not win a popularity vote over gasoline, hopefully we will find a solution that will benefit consumers and be safe for the environment.

Kym Gordon Moore is the author of the eBook, Alphabet Soup: 5 Main Ingredients for Turning Words into a Bowl of Hot Topics! Come to think of it, why not choose alternatives? Gasoline or petrol is the widely used fuel for many automobiles and other engines which feature internal combustion. This non renewable energy source is being used in many countries. The increase in demand for this fuel resulted in the frequent dwelling of this natural resource for many years. In the present days, scarcity of gasoline has arised and in turn, the price of the gasoline has increased considerably. The price of gasoline is further affected by the increase in transportation charges. The strong increment in the gasoline price led to the entry of different alternative fuels in the market. These alternative fuels are mostly renewable and are also available at low cost. The fuels don’t have any pollutants unlike the gasoline. They are environmental friendly and are also customer friendly because of the low cost incurred on this type of fuel. The alternate fuels are:

Propane is a must on your list. Propane, butane, propylene and butylene are the main ingredients of LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas). Propane is eco friendly and emits fewer pollutants because of its simple molecular structure. Propane engines are very durable when compared to the gasoline engines. Even the spark plugs of propane engine will last for more than hundred million miles. The strong increment in the price of gasoline is the main reason to opt for the cheap and effective propane fuel.

Ethanol is also a good alternative for gasoline. Though ethanol is mainly used in the demonstrations, the E-85 and E-95 versions are very useful in reducing the pollutants. Ethanol converted into ETBE (Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) will help to lower the emissions. Ethanol also replaces the hazardous octane content and will also decrease the carbon monoxide which is released during the combustion process. The strong increment in the price of gasoline will help the sales of ethanol fuel in the near future.

Methanol is another alternative alcoholic fuel. A hydroxyl radical replacing the hydrogen molecule in methane will form methanol. This alcoholic fuel has similar properties of ethane. Methanol is the proven alternate fuel and is currently being used in many automobiles. This fuel can also be produced from the garbage or other waste materials. It is an excellent renewable source and also the emissions and particulate pollution will decrease considerably. The increment in the gasoline price made many customers to subscribe for the cheap Methanol fuel.

Bio diesel is an alternative diesel fuel which is prepared from the vegetable oils. This fuel, when used in the diesel engines will help in the complete combustion of the carbon deposits and also the particulate matter. Bio diesel burns very effectively when compared to the conventional diesel. The sudden increment in the gasoline price leaves the people no other option but to opt for bio diesel for their diesel engines.

Electric Fuel is the latest alternate fuel. In this fuel, the power to the vehicle is supplied by a battery or by a fuel cell, which converts the chemical energy to the electric power. This fuel releases zero pollutants and is perfect eco friendly. The sudden increment in the price of gasoline is forcing many people to turn for the cheap electric fuel.

When the answers are there, why not take advantage of it? Come on! Don’t be stuck upon suffering on expensive cost. Alternatives are here! Gasoline vs. cheaper substitutes, I’d go for the one that costs me less. Sooner or later, gasoline would be overpowered by these reserves and if you’re not into it, you’ll surely be left behind.

You must become something like crazy about the solution for the price hike of gasoline. Do not worry. Just go and visit the website <a

There are conversion kits that can convert a gasoline powered vehicle into an electric car, but it is not an easy job. You will need to find the services of an experienced mechanic to help you make the conversion. This is not a do-it-yourself project. No related posts.

By: Clifton Zima<div

In order to perform this conversion, you will need specific parts that will allow those components to run solely on electric power.

There are many advantages in making the conversion from a gasoline car to an electric one, if you have an all-electric car, your power comes from batteries that store electricity to operate the motor. You charge the batteries at night and then you’re ready to go in the morning. This will allow you to know that you aren’t releasing harmful pollutants into the air that can cause damage to the environment. Vehicles are responsible for about 80 percent of the pollution in our world, and that pollution is depleting the ozone layer and contributing to global warming.

Once you perform the conversion from gasoline to electric car, you will find that you will be gaining a lot more than you will be losing. A major disadvantage of a completely electric car is that you will only be able to drive about a hundred miles before the charge runs out. However, most people don’t drive much more than that in an average day, so just keep an eye on your electricity gauge, this will tell you how much power you have left.

You can also do a conversion from gasoline to electric car by making your car a hybrid electric car. A hybrid electric car is one that runs primarily on electricity but also provides a secondary power source with gasoline or another type of alternative fuel. While this is not completely emission free, if you have to drive more than a hundred miles a day, this type of conversion can give you a huge piece of mind, in knowing that you will not run out of power.

Clifton is a qualified mechanical engineer committed to finding

Hydrogen

Hydrogen as an alternate fuel instead of petrol or diesel illustrates the current problems with seemingly everyone looking in every different direction for an alternative fuel. There are two versions for the use of Hydrogen, the use of Hydrogen in a traditional type combustion engine to drive vehicles or a fuel cell which produces electricity for an ‘electric’ car.

Combustion Hydrogen

Involves the conversion of current cars similar to an LPG conversion. Some car manufacturers have made specific Hydrogen combustion engines. BMW developed the H2R, a series 7 prototype and Mazda have developed a Hydrogen combustible Wankel engine. These engines use liquid hydrogen as a combustion agent similar to petrol or diesel. With a 6 litre engine and a top speed of over 187mph the BMW is no G Wiz to be laughed at by top gear fans. It is a record breaking futuristic car.

Fuel Cell

The simplest way to describe fuel cells is that they are a giant battery, which produces electricity to drive electric vehicles. However this would be over simplifying what is in effect a mini power station generator in your car. Hydrogen and oxygen are combined in a chemical process which produces water and electricity. An example is Honda’s FCX car.

Advantages

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe and the technology exists to process it in large quantities, although the refinement process is still in its infancy. The waste product is water with no pollutants like carbon monoxide, sulphides etc. Hydrogen combustion and fuel cells are more efficient than petrol combustion they get 60-80% conversion from their fuel whilst petrol gets as low as 20%.

Disadvantages

There appears to be an irrational fear about the safety of Hydrogen probably ingrained in the public psyche from the Hindenburg disaster, which according to recent investigations by accident experts was actually caused by the material of the craft being impregnated with a highly flammable compound which acted like a wick, not the Hydrogen. There is a high production cost, at present, but this could improve with mass production. There is a lack of Hydrogen at fuel pumps. The low density conversion of energy can cause a problem with more stops at the refuelling stop. The vast array of technologies which have not been finalised , there are many different types of fuel cell processes including polymer exchange membrane fuel cell, alkaline fuel cell, phosphoric-acid fuel cell, among many others. There is no clear winner so no-one is going to put billions into producing one type of fuel cell in case it is the wrong technology.

What about the Cost?

There is still a high production cost, at present for hydrogen. Fuel cells use precious metals and if mass produced would strip the world resources and drive up the cost of the cells to perhaps uneconomical levels. There is a need to build an infrastructure for producing and delivering hydrogen to the fuel pump.

So are hydrogen cars the answer to conserving fossil fuels and the environment? At this point no, but hydrogen is a strong contender but there needs to be consensus on combustible versus fuel cell and if fuel cell which type and could this cause similar problems for precious metals as petrol has done for oil resources.

Hugh McDubhgaill is the publisher of <a

There are several options other than old fossil fuels such as oil and coal. These alternative fuel sources generate less harmful emissions and contribute less to global warming. Also, they reduce the dependence of countries on traditional fossil fuels such as coal and oil.

Top alternatives fuel sources for greener environment are listed below:

1) Ethanol: It is also called ethyl alcohol and more often termed as an alternative fuel source. Ethanol is mixed with gasoline to obtain fuel with high rates of octane and less harmful and more controlled emissions.

2) Natural Gas: Natural Gas is produced at domestic level, emitting fewer radiations.

3) Electric Fuel: Electricity can be used in electric batteries and cell-controlled vehicles. Most of the batteries use nickel iron, nickel metal hydride, sodium nickel chloride, zinc bromine and aluminum air. The vehicles running on batteries and cells do not produce air pollution.

4) Hydrogen: Hydrogen is considered to be an alternative fuel since it is never depleted due to its abundance in nature. It is also obtained from biomass that is primarily related to plants. The combination of hydrogen and natural gas can be used as a fuel for vehicles.

5) Propane: Propane is a type of flammable gas found in petroleum and natural gas that is domestically used for cooking purposes. It is also used as an alternative fuel source due to its less emitting characteristics.

6) Biodiesel: Biodiesel is another fuel source that is abundantly found in nature. It is human environment friendly fuel that produces less air pollution. Using biodiesel in diesel engines shows significant minimal burning of carbons and hydrocarbons.

7) Methanol: Methanol or wood alcohol is obtained from biomass. It is used as fuel in vehicles with the combination of 15% gasoline and 85% methanol. Methanol can lessen ozone pollution.

P-Series Fuel: P-Series fuels are combination of ethanol, butane, pentanes and methyltetrahydrofuran (MTHF). These fuels are all environment friendly.

9) Solar energy: Sunlight is also expected to be an alternative fuel source for powering vehicles. Solar energy is sustainable; it can be resorted and is pollution free.

For more information, please visit <a

But the words “Save mother Earth” made you a bit interested, and eventually urged you to know more about the subject of alternative fuels.

Before we ever used and discovered gasoline as a fuel for our engines, it was simply a treatment against lice. But nowadays gasoline is considered to be one of the vital movers of our economy. The price of gas is very fragile. A sudden increase of cost can be harmful to our market and economy.

The pollution that is released from gasoline consumption is the major contributor of green house gasses, and also is the number one causes of global warming. Knowledge about alternative fuel is very important for every person.

What is Alternative Fuel?

For better fuel, we may have heard about alternative fuels recently, and probably believes that it is a newly introduced commodity that is readily available in the market. What we don’t know is that alternative fuels have been around for years. Alternative fuel generally comes from resources other than the regular petroleum. Some are produced locally or imported from foreign countries, while others are harvested from renewable resources that are more beneficial for our environment. These alternative fuels can actually give out less pollution than a regular gasoline or diesel.

Alternative fuels are also used to power different types of vehicles, and are also accessible in the market. Today, you can purchase them in gas stations, or from a variety of establishments. For better fuel, here is a list of alternative fuels:

o Hydrogen: It is the most abundant chemical element in the world. It consists about 75 percent of the earth’s entire elemental mass. Hydrogen is created from fossil fuels, nuclear power, and renewable resources specifically by hydropower. When using hydrogen as a fuel for our vehicles, it releases no pollutants in the air that can be detrimental for the environment. A hydrogen car is the common term for vehicles that uses hydrogen to power their engines.

o HHO: is generally water that is used to fuel cars. It is one of the most popular issues discussed about when it comes to alternative fuels. HHO practically powers your vehicle with water.

o Biodiesel: this alternative fuel usually comes from animal fats or vegetable fats. It is a fuel for diesel engines, which can also emit lesser air pollutants.

o Natural Gas: is a gas that generally consists of methane, it is also a fossil fuel that produces less green house gases.

o Ethanol: this gas is harvested and is made from corn and other kinds of crops.

o Propane: an alternative fuel that is more common and popular in households and kitchens. It is also known as (LPG) liquefied petroleum gas and also generates less green house gasses.

Copyright (c) 2009 S.Foster – [http://www.forbetterfuel.com] – All rights reserved

No related posts.

Alternative Fuels Expansion

Types Of Alternative Fuel

Alternative fuels expansion
<guid

Will such event be blamed from the growing number of automobiles and the use of fuels in the place of electricity in many areas? Maybe it would not be a good idea to argue about the depleting supply of fuel as it will be better to talk about how we are going to surpass the problem. Experts have continuously studied this, resulting to few but profitable solutions like the use of alternative fuels expansion.

A considerable market expansion has been considered in the use of bio diesel, propane, CNG, and ethanol. Believe it or not, the battery electric power is also being encouraged along with the demand for green-fuel-based vehicles that have resulted in the demand and growth of alternative fuel. It is not therefore surprising to realize the expansion and meeting of the corresponding necessities for gas station facilities. Alternative fuel expansion certainly affects all businesses positively as most businessmen (and perhaps environmentalists) consider it as good news. The fuel-saving alternatives are consisted of hybrid vehicles use, alternative fuels and bio-diesel expansion. The hybrid vehicles are focused on conserving energy and the environment, making these as the latest trend in cars (as seen on most slogans : “save on gas and get the best mileage!”)

The eco friendly population has been looking for alternative fuels and the trend has caused gasoline companies to exploit the situation and hiking the gas prices. Since companies consider options to survive the business, alternative fuels expansion is one marvelous breakthrough in their pursuit. Alternative fuels are not just environment friendly, but cheaper too as these are made with various product combinations including the ones contained in bio waste, garbage, vegetable oil, and crops like corn and other resources. Business on alternative fuels is witnessing an all time high and offers a number of advantages to countless customers, especially the ones who want to see a better planet.

With the rising intensity of global warming impacts in our environment, it is just important to be aware of the urgent need to explore different types of energy. It will be great to be among the first supporters of the principle about adopting the use of green-friendly or eco-friendly alternative fuel facilities available. Some of the car manufacturers have their vehicles run efficiently on ethanol, E85, electric power and propane as they have committed Alternative Fuels Based Vehicle Production lines, offering their employees and customers effective technical training. This just proves that experts are right about the reliable solution promised by the use of alternative fuels expansion. Indeed, there is still a hope to save mother earth from the depleting supply of natural energy.

Ian Pennington is an accomplished niche website developer and author.

To learn more about alternative fuels expansion [http://bestalternativefuels.info/alternative-fuels-expansion], please visit Best Alternative Fuels [http://bestalternativefuels.info] for current articles and discussions.

No related posts.

Are Alternative Fuels the Answer to the Problem of Fossil Fuels?

Types Of Alternative Fuel

Alternative Fuel Sources

Eco section

Environment

Global Warming

Hybrid Cars

Recycling

Williger
<guid

Unfortunately, fossil fuels are associated with pollution problems and problems of rising costs. This article explores alternative fuels as an answer to the problems posed by fossil fuels. No related posts.

By: Darren Williger<div

These alternative fuel options are also necessary in order to reduce America’s dependence on crude oil. Other options are currently being explored but these are some of the more popular options that are currently in existence:

Biodiesel:

This is one of the most efficient, clean and cheapest fuel options available for implementation. These fuels can be made from a variety of things such as vegetable and soy bean oils, animal fats and recycled restaurant grease too.

Pure biodiesel is a fuel that burns cleanly and gives off a lot less pollutants than other forms of fuel. It also helps to reduce the high levels of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and sulfates in the atmosphere. Biodiesels achieve this feat by reducing the dependence people have on the usual petroleum products.

Getting the average consumer to use biodiesel fuel instead of traditional fuel could be one of the simplest and most cost effective transfers out of all the alternative fuel sources in existence. A huge number of cars and trucks which were built after 1994 can already accept biodiesel fuel or at least they require minor modifications in order to do so. There will be no need to create new pumps as older fuel pumps are perfectly capable of dispensing biodiesel. Statistics have shown the current U.S stockpiles of diesel and other foodstuffs capable of producing biodiesel can effectively create up to 2 billion gallons of biodiesel which is 5 % of the annual fuel usage of America.

Ethanol:

This type of fuel was once considered the primary alternative fuel of choice, in recent times however, this opinion has changed substantially. Critics have claimed that it uses a whole lot more energy to make than Americans can save by using it. Research is still ongoing to make this fuel easier to make. Ethanol is a clear and colorless fuel that can be made quite easily by distilling corn and other plants which have high sugar content. These plants are distilled into grain alcohol using a wet milling process.

Electricity:

Electricity is a totally clean fuel and so interest in using the fuel source for cars in on the increase. Storage capacity is rather limited in currently available models which also limit the distance an electric car can travel before it requires recharging. Solar power and wind power will be recharging options in the future; this will make the electric car a whole lot more accessible and useable for the average driver.

Hydrogen:

Hydrogen can be used to grow fuel cells which in turn are converted into electricity for cars. Hydrogen emissions are low but on the other hand critics feel that since it is created from burning fossil fuels such as gas, coal and nuclear energy, it isn’t a viable large scale alternative for reducing the gas consumption average of the country.

Methanol:

Methanol is also called wood alcohol in some quarters. Methanol is used in relative mixtures of about 85% alcohol and 15% gasoline which can be mixed in flexible fuel vehicles. Methanol is mixed with gasoline in order to enhance the octane levels and create a fuel that is cleaner. Methanol can be produced by reforming natural gas in order to create a synthetic gas that can be fed into a reactor in order to create methane as well as water vapor. The technology actually seemed quite promising until a number of car manufacturers grew concerns over the contaminated ground water that results through the methanol production process.

Alternatives actually exist in order to reduce the reliance the world has on regular fuel. A greater level of research is required in order to determine the best source that will replace the dependence that we have on fossil fuels.

Darren Williger is an over-caffeinated, low carbohydrate eating, winemaking enthusiast who writes for <a

There are many claims about these vehicles ranging from astounding miles per gallon (mpg) to the peace of mind it gives the driver, but why should someone buy an alternative-fuel powered vehicle?

Many alt-fuel vehicle owners speak of the financial benefits of owning such a vehicle. It is true that you can save money on your monthly fuel bill, depending on what choice of alt-fuel vehicle you drive. Because of the relatively new technology involved, many alt-fuels are just as expensive as or more expensive than traditional petroleum based fuels. It seems that the most money saving option is an electric-hybrid engine, but you usually end up paying more upfront for these as the cost for an electric-hybrid car is greater from the dealership than a standard car.

Another reason some drivers choose so-called “green” cars is because of their positive effect on the environment. The thinking is that if the emissions released by the car are cleaner, then it is more environmentally friendly to drive it than a standard engine. Without a doubt this is true for almost all forms of alternative fuel. Still, attention has to be paid to the fuel manufacturing and consumption process as a whole. There is scientific evidence that the current method of extracting hydrogen from natural gas can create far worse emissions than extraction from petroleum.

Developing new technology, such as alternative-fuel use, costs a great deal of money. Some alt-fuel vehicle drivers purchase their vehicles so that they feel they have helped an industry they believe in. By infusing money into the industry via the purchase of the vehicle itself, additional options, and the fuel supply needed they are contributing to the further development of that technology.

Drivers have also been known to turn to alternative-fuel vehicles as a way of helping or encouraging their country to eliminate its need of foreign oil. Many people feel that western countries have become dangerously dependent on oil producing nations. At a time when wars have been fought over, among other things, the protection of oil interests, some citizens have been looking for a way to make their country more able to support itself. When a country is not completely dependent on it’s trading partner, it has the advantage when it comes to international trading.

There will always be a certain segment of society that likes to do the “in” thing. They were the first ones to wear bell-bottom pants in the 1970′s, Members Only jackets in the 1980′s, and baggy pants in the 1990′s. There will also always be people who want the newest “toy” or technology because it’s a status symbol, especially when it’s something being used by celebrities. Alternative-fuel vehicles definitely are no exception to this market. Whether these buyers continue to own alt-fuel cars after the fad have passed on or it’s no longer a status symbol is anyone’s guess.

Similar to the people trying to reduce their country’s dependency on foreign oil are a group of people, whose main reason for owning alternative-fuel vehicles is to support the agricultural industry in their own country. This would mainly include the alternative fuels known to as Biodiesel and Ethanol. Both Biodiesel and Ethanol are somewhat made from vegetable oil. Usually for a car to run on Biodiesel or Ethanol there has to be some minor modifications done to the engine. If the Biodiesel is made from used vegetable oil, then it has to be refined first to clear it of impurities.

Many people buy many different types of alternative-fuel vehicles for many different reasons. These people don’t as a group even agree on the reasons they do this, but they are united by their actions and they are encouraging the entire alternative-fuel industry to develop faster than if it was just developing on it’s own.

Mark Allen is a supporter of the search for viable alternative fuels. More people have become smarter car owners have looked into the possibility of using other types of alternative fuels.

Naming the types of alternative fuels are Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas, Compressed Natural Gas, Biodesel, Ethanol, Methanol, Electricity, Pure Plant Oils, and Hydrogen.

A Liquefied Petroleum Gas or LPG is composed of hydrocarbons and propane; that is why it is sometimes known as propane. Hydrocarbons are vapors when the temperature is normal, but becomes liquid if the temperature is moderate. The chief sources of LPG are the oil refineries in California; yet for nationwide requirements, it comes from petroleum refining and from processing of natural gas. This suits smaller type of vehicles like light van or cars.

By the name itself, Liquefied Natural Gas or LNG comes from natural gas; that which you use for cooking and other home needs. The difference with LPG is that LNG needs cooling in extremely low temperature in order for it to be liquefied at the supply station.

Compressed Natural Gas is a natural gas likely used at home, that is chiefly and domestically produced in the United States. Importing is done through pipelines or on exclusive tanker ships. Because of the increasing demand for natural gas, the production has been hardly catching up to feed all the demands of the nations.

Biodiesel is more of a fuel substitute that is created from biomass, meaning it can be renewed naturally and does not endanger the condition of the atmosphere because of possible carbon-dioxide pollutant. It basically gets use of canola oil or soybean to form its base; sometimes a cooking oil recycled or animal fat can also be applied. Without any modification, 5% is only advised to be used in diesel-maintained vehicles.

Ethanol is also known as grain alcohol that is generated from biomass fermentation. Like biodiesel, it is rather safe from bringing in any possible undesirable condition to the atmosphere. It is made out of a combination of ethanol, whence E85, and unleaded gasoline.

Methanol is also known as wood alcohol. It is usually created from a natural gas, but can be possibly generated by biomass fermentation. However, this product is still undergoing more research and developmental procedures and is not advisable competitive.

For Electricity type, it can be acquired through burning of coal that contains high sulfur into solar cells. Vehicles using this type are identified either as battery or hybrid type. A hybrid electric type of vehicle can be made to run using any fuel like diesel, gasoline, or even the alternative types of fuels. Meanwhile, the power of battery electric type of vehicle comes from a generator that is off-board.

Pure Plant Oils are fuel from crops like palm, grapeseed, or nuts that are oil-based, crushed, and filtered. PPO has currently a very limited amount of supply. On the other hand, hydrogen fuel type is only used now in vehicles that are prototype. This has been said to be pollutant-free fuel.

These types of alternative fuels are what the polluted and the impoverished nations need to sustain the demand despite its price hike.

Darryl Power is a writer of Energy and fuel saving Articles.
